Text Box: WARATTAH is a metal band that was formed in Bordeaux in December 2005. It was formed by Khris (guitar/vocals), who wanted to create the music which he wasn't able to express with his other bands. After a few tests, the definitive lineup was found with Cyril (bass) and Xav (drums), musicians who each had both studio and live experience. However, with the complexity of the vocal/guitar parts, Denis (guitar) was added to contribute the "wall of sound" needed for live shows, and also to because his soloing technique brings a new dimension to the band. The musical past of each band member has deliberately been omitted, in order to allow people to discover and listen to what WARATTAH does, with no preconceived opinion as to what they could be doing or could have done! It is also an approach that is meant to be humble and honest.
At the end of April in 2006, a 4-song demo was recorded, and it was subsequently voted as "Demo of the Month" in the June 2006 issue of "Rock Hard" magazine and "Autoproduction of the Month" in the March 2007 issue of "Guitar Part" magazine. Other reviews have appeared in Metallian, Guitarist Magazine (issue #198S), and in various webzines (see Warattah website). WARATTAH is a metal trio that holds nothing back, with raw vocals, technical drumming, powerful guitars and a grooving bass. The main objective of the band will remain live performance. Also, the video for "Fits of Rage" aired on "MCM", "MCM Belgium" and "MTV Pulse" in March 2007, and will re-air in May 2007. In addition, a documentary on WARATTAH will air on Canada's "Shok Productions" and on Benelux's "S-Television". The band is currently seeking French and foreign booking managers.
Band Member Bios
Khris—I am born on the 2nd of May 1973 in Berlin and I already started playing music at the age of 14. By listening to groups as Metallica and Joe Satriani, I learned guitar. I stopped two years practicing, because at the age of 15 I joined the ‘Compagnons du devoir’ (a kind of practical training). When I returned to high school, I started with my first band. With the help of a few high school friends Ad Works was born. We were asked for a few concerts, but it wasn’t the real work yet. As we couldn’t find a righteous singer, I decided to sing and of course all this without ever leaving my guitar. In 1992 I decided to go living in Bordeaux and there I formed the group Khortex. In fact that was the starting point. Although we weren’t celebrities, we became known and respected in the metal-scene. Three years later I started with Oversoul. We created 4 albums and we did a tour in the whole of Western Europe. With Oversoul we did at least 400 concerts and we played with groups as Messhugah, Strapping Young Lad, Watcha, pleymo, Grip Inc, ZZ Top, Dearly Beheaded, Godflesh, Loudbast, Dagoba, Scarve, Pro Pain, Edge of Sanity, Lolofora, Murphy’s Law. That really was the big work. We were at the most fabulous festivals of France and at the most known concerts in Western Europe. In December 2005 I decided to start with Warattah. To discover new musical horizons, still metal of course, but more technical, more violent and quicker. I wanted to create metal, which holds nothing back, with raw vocals, technical drumming, powerful guitars and a grooving bass. At the end of April 2006, a 4-song demo was recorded, and it was subsequently voted as “Demo of the Month” in the June 2006 issue of Rock Hard magazine. We received a very good press in Metallian, Guitarist Magazine and Distorsion was “Autoproduction of the Month” in the March 2007 issue of Guitar Part Magazine. Also, the video for “Fits of Rage” were aired on MCM, MCM Belgium and MTV Pulse in March 2007, in addition to Quebec, Canada’s Shock Production. The main objective of the band remains live performance.
Xav—I’m born on the 25th of May 1976 at Tonneins. At the age of 15, I wanted to play music after discovering the drums at a college friend’s place, and that desire has never left me since. In 1998, after having some experiences with playing in a band, I went to the C.I.A.M in Bordeaux, where I took classes with Michel Fourcade and Didier Ottaviani and took part in masterclasses with Stéphane Huchard, Cyril Atef, André Charlier..
2000-I began teaching the drum at the Rockschool Barbey and at the ‘Cabinet du dr. Larsen’ I accompanied Patrick Rondat at a master class in Rock et Chanson. I did a few concerts with Angel Eye (melodic speed metal), Aliséa (progressive metal) and Didascalie (pop),..
2002-I joined the metal combo Viridiana for a few concerts as they were preparing their third album.
2003-I played with Jérémy Chatelain to play the support for L5.
2004-I had a headlining tour with Jérémy Chatelain.
2005-Recording of the second Jérémy Chatelain album. I also joined the band Kélo trio (40 concerts per year) and recorded the album of instrumental progressive rock band P.Y. Marani. And that same year I also joined Warattah.
2006-A few concerts with Kélo trio, recording of the Mathieu Johann album and two titles for MAgalie Vaé. Also: recording of the “Distorsion” demo from metal band Warattah. We also recorded the video clip of Fits of Rage.
2007-First concerts with Warattah.

Cyril—I am born on the 29th December 1976. I started playing bass in 1990, and since that moment I was a member of different groups. With some friends of high school, we started with the group Insane. In 1992, I joined Khortex, the group of Khris. We registered two demo’s and played a few interesting concerts. I am a self-made man. In 1997, I started with sound and I’ve liked it so much that I’ve never stopped. I even had the change to go to England to work there. In the same period end being in France, I played with the group Human, which is well known by the national press and I am also a member of Magic Mushroom. A group in which I am still participating. In December 2005, I chose for Warattah and in that formation I discovered my old friend Khris with whom I played twelve years before. I registered a lot of demo’s in different styles, but I particularly enjoyed registering the demo Distorsion of Warattah from December till April 2006. I play bass in Warattah and actually I am an engineer of professional sound.

Denis—I began playing music at the age of 5, singing and accordion When I was twelve I discovered rock music, with AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses and even Nirvana. Those were the bands which inspired me to start playing electrical guitar two years later. Listening to guitar-heroes such as Steve Ray Vaughan, Satriani, Vaï, Nuno Bettencourt and John Petrucci, and discovering live-music, I have transformed this hobby into a passion. After getting my bac, I began taking lessons to become a professional musician at the C.I.A.M and I played in a few bands such as Rappel (Rock-Fusion), Agën Jazz (Jazz-Fusion).. After that I joined the Big Band Gironde, during two years, playing some thirty concerts all over France with professional and beginning musicians. In 2002 I have begun another education, this time at the Nancy M.A.I International, where I graduated with big success. The people I met during that period have brought me to record an album on the Island of Réunion, with metal band Chrisalys. Back in France, I returned to the orchestra “Champs Elysées”. A year went by when a pop rock band called Freyssac contacted me. We played around 50 shows, such as a support show for Florent Pagny in Objat in front of a 12000 people crowd. At the same time, I joined the instrumental metal band Plug’In, with which I played support for bands such as Freak Kitchen, Bumblefoot and jonas Hellborg. (album somewhere in 2007). Because of the distance and alienation, the Freyssac-adventure couldn’t continue Text Box: Cyril—BASS
